Zacchaeus received the salvation of the soul

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:1-10 NIV)

The city of Jericho is the traffic hub. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. The tax collectors are hated by Israel because they have helped the colonial Romans to collect taxes and oppress their own people. When Zacchaeus heard that Jesus who traveled around to preach gospel of the kingdom and perform great wonders and signs among the people. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. He was so eager that he made a thorough preparation to calculate the line ahead of Jesus so that he had no obstacles to see Jesus. He was so patient that he waited for Jesus to come because he knew that Jesus would pass by from him and he could wait for Jesus to come.

He was so humble that he waited in silence when Jesus passed by. Even he was consciously humble so that he could put down his status and not care about the others’ thoughts to climbe in the tree to watch Jesus. A tax collector or a rich man even lied on the roadside tree and did not greet with Jesus when he pssed. If he said hello, Jesus might temporarily stay here or more delay some time to talk to him to Increase understanding. But he felt consciously unworthy. Jesus called his name initiatively “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”

How did Jesus know Zacchaeus? Jesus said these signswould accompany those who believe. Jesus did not say that Zacchaeus, did you welcome me to your house but said I might stay at your house today. In the Bible it tells us ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. And Zacchaeus seek and find. He prayed to see Jesus, and Jesus came, lived with him, and blessed him. Many people did not understand and talked about why Jesus lived in a sinners' home. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Zacchaeus was very happy to say to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Zacchaeus received the grace with faith and rejoice and then he manifested the repentance to make fruit so that God was glorified. Jesus further said that salvation came to this house today because he was also the son of Abraham. Zacchaeus received the salvation of the soul.

How to do with the temptation?

At the beginning of the creation of the Word, God gave human two laws, one is the Sabbath for the holy day and the other is no eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil, otherwise must die. What is sin? Break the law is sin. In fact, sin is lawlessness. It seems that a person returns to his motherland, relevant regulation of the country is carrying the gold no more than half a catty. If a person with more than half a catty of gold who is found to be arrested, because he breaks the law.

God has established ten commandments including no murder, honor his parents. If a person kills, and he sins, the result of the sin is penalty. God put the road in front of people, indicates the way to life and to death. He tells people to go the road of life and not to the road of death. The road is in front of people who choose which way to go and take their own responsibility.

In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve were free to eat from any tree in the garden; but they must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when they eat from it they would certainly die. Eat or not eat is up to Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve followed the devil and did not obey the word of God to eat the fruit of the tree of good and evil so they died.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned. As people are destined to die once, and after that everyone will face judgment. The Bible tells us that man shall not live on berad alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Whether or not we are willing to follow God's words up to ourselves.

The end of the devil has not arrived yet. Until the end of the world, the devil would be thrown in the lake of fire. In the new heaven and earth there would be no longer curse, pain and mourning. In Adam all die. Jesus was born and was crucified by the law for saving man from the judgment of the law and give man life. In Jesus Christ all will be made alive.

Adam and Eve obeyed the devil and ate the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. We can be graced and rightous because of the righteousness of Jesus. Jesus is our righteousness and we should clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ, which is the righteousness of God so that we will be saved by his righteousness.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. God gives us the Spirit of truth to help to guide us into all truth and gain the victory.
