After we receive the Holy Spirit, we need to often pray by speaking in tongues because it will help renew our spiritual life.We need to pray to God often by faith:

Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and all his maidservants so that they could have children. Moses prayed to God, and God stopped the disaster in Egypt, and the thunder and hail in Egypt stopped, and the rain no longer poured on the ground. Joshua prayed to God, the sun changed and stayed, and the moon stopped until the Israelites avenged the enemy. Hezekiah prayed to God, and God added his fifteen years of life. Daniel prayed to God three times a day. He had good spirituality. He was thrown into lion's den but he was protected by God. Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane, and angel came to strengthen him and overcome the weakness of the flesh.

If you pray more by faith, you will have more power. If you pray less or pray without faith, you will have less power. If we don't pray, our flesh is weak and we will follow the flesh's desires. Our desire is against with our soul. Therefore, we should rely on the Holy Spirit to put the evil deeds of the body to the death and achieve salvation.

The Importance of Speaking in New Tongues?

It is tongues jumping up and down like fire. In Greek words it means" tongues twist."

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (Acts 2:3 NIV)

1 Speak to God.

2 Edify yourself.

3 The only evidence of receiving Holy Spirit.

4 A sign for unbelievers.

5 Live by the Holy Spirit, also help us keep in step with the Holy Spirit.

1, Prayer by speaking in new tongues is to speak to God and tell mysteries by the Spirit. No one understands it in mind but it utter mysteries by the Spirit.

For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one under-stands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:2 NIV)

Holy Spirit intercedes for us by His words according to the will of God.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26 NIV)

Praying in a tongue is praying to God. How can we pray to God. Jesus said: shall enter inner room, close the door and pray to Father who is unseen. Then your father will reward you. It means to pray to God only. Praying in tongues only God knows which is the prayer in truth, in the Most Holy Place and true prayer in the inner room.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.(Matthew 6:6 NIV)

In church congregation ( which is not personal inner room but in the assembly), among brethren, speaking in new tongues is the smallest spiritual gift. Why? Because others cannot understand when you speak in new tongues. The edification to other people is the smallest. About edification to other people, speaking in new tongues is the smallest gift which does not refer to the edification to yourself but to the church brethren.

Therefore, in the church we need desire larger gift which means we need ask for the gift with larger edification to others since love is to seek the good of others. (1 Corinthians 10:24 NIV)

2, Edify yourself, it is the prayer in Spirit.

Jesus said we need love neighbor as ourselves. In order to edify you myself, you need pray in Spirit which is to edify your spiritual life. What did Paul said? He said" I will pray with my spir-it, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. Prayer with spirit and prayer with understanding are both needed.(1 Corinthi-ans 14:15 NIV)

This is not concerning the edification to church brethren but the edification to you your own faith.

Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. (1 Corinthians 14:4 NIV)

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV)

Where there are tongues, they will be stilled. When Jesus come, there will be no speaking in new tongues. Neither the prophecy. Those are not needed when Jesus come. But now do we need them? We need them. Besides that, those are necessary. Has Jesus already come now? Not yet come now. When he comes, do we need knowledge at that moment? We don't need. But now do we need knowledge? We need it. Moreover the knowledge is important since scripture tells us people will perish because of lacking knowledge. The Lord said: my people are destroyed from lack of

knowledge.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)

Faith, hope and love remain forever. But now do we need food? We need and it is a must. With-out eating food, people will die. But when Jesus come, we don't need food. Wheat, grains, beans etc. will be laid bare. The elements will be destroyed by fire. When Jesus come, those things are not needed. But has Jesus come now? Not yet. Do we need eating? We need. Jesus said: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. When Jesus comes again, we will be liberated from the bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? (1 Corinthians 12:30 NIV)

Many people have not understood this scripture properly and say" not everyone can speak in new tongues since it is just a kind of spiritual gift." We need know speaking in new tongues has two functions. One is as a spiritual gift to edify others in the church. Spiritual gift is to edify others. Another is as a gift of salvation for everyone since it is the evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit and it is the prayer with Spirit to renew everyone's life. As a spiritual gift, not everyone will speak tongues in the church. Only when there is someone who could interpret so church could

understand. That is why the 1 Corinthians 12:30 says" Do all speak in tongues?" Not everyone is

allowed to speak in tongues as a spiritual gift to church unless there is someone could interpret. Even though there is someone who could interpret, bible says two or at most three should speak in tongues to church. If no one interprets the tongues, everyone should keep quiet in church and speak in new tongues to God as a gift of salvation to edify his own spirit. Everyone should speak in tongues to God since it is a gift of salvation for everyone. But not all will speak in tongues to church as a spiritual gift unless someone could interpret so the church would be edified.

If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and some-one must interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God. (1 Corinthians 14:27-28 NIV)

3, It is a sign for unbelievers.

For unbeliever, speaking in tongues is a sign since they could not speak. It seems like drunkard but actually not drunkard. It seems like mad, actually not mad but receives the Holy Spirit. Eve-ryone in church could receive the Holy Spirit and speak in new tongues.

Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for un-believers but for believers. (1 Corinthians 14:22 NIV)

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; (Mark 16:17 NIV)

4, Speaking in tongues is the only evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit.

In the bible, in which way for church to identify if someone has received the Holy Spirit or not?

Identify not by healing or casting out demon; Not by good behavior; Not by believing in Jesus or not; Not by hearing true message or not; but by if one could speak in new tongues or not. When seeing or listening other speak in new tongues, bible says" they have received the Holy Spirit." While seeing healing or casting out demon, bible never says" they have received the Holy Spirit."

5, We live by the Holy Spirit, we shall also keep in step with the Holy Spirit.

Meanwhile, if the ones receive the Holy Spirit but have not relied the Holy Spirit to get rid of the evil deeds, they still give rooms to the evil spirit and will reap destruction and death. Whoever sows to please Spirit will reap peace and life. The scripture tells us"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. (1 Corinthians 14:4 NIV)

But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. (1 Corinthians 14:19 NIV)

to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.(1 Corinthians 12:10 NIV)

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, be-cause many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. (1 John 4:1-6 NIV)
